I dont know if its true, but i'm sure i read somewhere that if you alt+tab out of LFS, then go back into it it doesnt have AA and AF any more, and people were saying they were getting more FPS, but only because the AA and AF werent being used. So maybe thats whats been happening before.
Just turn AA and AF on (as high as they will go) in your card settings (make sure its set to always on and not game specific) load up LFS, put it on the highest resolution, run a replay (then you can slow it down if you get bad FPS because of the increased resolution) and press print screen. Go into photoshop, paintshop pro or whatever and paste it ... its not that hard
If you have the racing line going into the corner, and someone is just on the inside, then its normally the person trying to overtake who should back off, the person on the racing will probably take the normal line or you would assume that, so you would get out of the throttle or on the brakes to avoid contact.
I remember racing someone at south city classic in mrt's. I was going down the inside under the bridge, i wasnt that far up though and the guy came across taking the normal racing line and squeezed me up against the wall to the point that i had to get out of the move because there was just no room. On these occasions normally the other guy gives you room, but i thought it was quite good that he was defending his position, but i got him on the next lap into the hairpin after the bridge.
You dont just give up your position, you fight for it, but you still have to race clean and try not to avoid contact.
I dont know why racing games never have it, but the sound of a car up close and in the distance can be completly different as you can hear with the BRM, grumbly and roaring up close, but smoother and howling in the distance. Obviously it would depend what cars, but the F1 cars would do it, and you should be able to hear the car basically the whole way round the track.
I have only just found this game (only just finished downloading from steam) Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, but it mentions ... Distance-based sound system dynamically creates the battle ambiance.
I've said it before, but for games that use samples and merge the samples at different rpm, why not have another set of samples (distance sounds) and merge them with the other samples as the distance increases. Is this possible ?
I've been playing for about 9 months, havent had any lessons but have made some progress, nothing like that kid in the video though WOW
http://media.putfile.com/Dani-California-Solo-37
Here's a clip i made from the solo (its not all of it, the end is too fast for me atm :tilt of Dani Califonia by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is a great song, and so is the album
I dont flat shift, the sound of it gets annoying, and it just doesnt feel right. Wasnt the engine damage in S1 like 10x easier to get (which was better imo), 'cos i remember you would occasionlly flat shift and you would hear the engine damage and notice the power loss if you done it too much.
You should try TT Superbikes http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProd ... ?cat=10252&mid=323010 . Its quite realistic, although you can get into some rediculous slides, but thats about the only thing that lets it down ... and the Isle of Man track is fantastic, 17mins or more per lap requires a lot of concentration, and you have to tell yourself not to push too much, takes some learning too Fantastic
So whats tourist trophy like ... realistic handling? Does it have a proper on-board camera, and whats the sense of speed like ?
Im not for or against it, but pitting on the last lap doesnt always make a difference
Reasons against it
"unfair" advantage - loose less time
unsporting
Reasons "for" it
loose less time
its not breaking any rules
You can understand people that do it, because its an advantage and its within the rules. Whether its unsporting or not is a matter of opinion
wikipedia says "Unsporting Behaviour can be found in many sports, but is often referred to in Soccer/Football. Some examples that may be classified of Unsporting Behaviour is :
Hard Fouls,
Holding an opponent or deliberately handling the ball for the purpose of preventing an opponent from gaining possession of the ball,
Faking an injury,
Saying things that are designed to confuse or distract an opponent,
Harassment (such as jumping around, shouting or making gestures to intentionally distract an opponent,
Jumping in front of a corner kick, free kick or throw-in,
Worrying the goalkeeper or trying to prevent him from putting the ball into play,
Blatant cases of holding and pulling an opposing player or his uniform,
Any action designed to deceive the Referee,
Behavior which in the Referee's judgment is unsporting or causes an unfair advantage."
And how often do you see the above in a match ...
I dont think pitting on the last lap is unsporting, just making use of a "grey" area in the rules, which is something you see a lot of in F1 tbh
If its a 30 lap race, and the people that take a pit stop half way through are doing 1.20 lap times on average ... they would take 40 mins.
If you are fuelled to the end of the race, and have to look after your tyres, your going to be slower. If you are roughly 1 second slower each lap that would take an extra 30 seconds ... do you get a 30 second advantage from pitting on the final lap ... i dont think so
Just want to point out that I have the wheel set to 900, even though in game after you turn it 720 it doesnt do any extra rotation ... i can still turn the wheel more in real life but it has no effect in game so theres nothing wrong with it set to 900, just that you dont have any ffb stopping you turning the wheel more.
The only reason i have it on 900 is that i have noticed when you load up other games with roation of say 400, sometimes it doesnt load the profile (for no apparent reason), so you have to quit the game and load it again and hope it works. My wheel in windows will turns 900, so i dont have to worry about the profile not loading properly every time i start up LFS.
There's nothing wrong with pitting on the last lap IMO (its not against the rules ... im not saying i do it though), its a tactical move, you either run heavy with fuel and go easy on the tyres (which costs time) and pit at the end, or run light and push the tires (earlier stop). The main problem is that people put in mandatory pitstops in races which are quite short.
Again, with football you dont turn over 5mins from the end to see the winner, same with any sport, you watch it because you enjoy watching it.
"Of course you don't do that, fans will be watching the action right from the start. But do you ever ask yourself why you have to watch the whole race when only the final position counts?"
It sounds like you dont want to watch it ... and no one's making you watch the whole race anyway
His suspension braking was a cause of his own actions ...
You cant give out points according to effort. Imagine if it was the same with football, one team leads for 80mins ... with 5mins to go the other team equalise, in the last min they then get the winner. You wouldnt give the other team leading for 80mins any points ... "you didnt win the match, but you put in a lot of effort, thats worth 1.2759 points" illepall
Why would they want to change the point system, whats wrong with it as it is
Your way is too complicated to work out quickly ... so anyone new to F1 will probably not understand and not watch again.
As said all ready, passing near the end, or on the final lap is basically pointless (<-- get it :chairfall) and thats what is most exciting, a close finish.
